HUGE SUCCESS FOR PONTEFRACT STUDENTS IN GCSE RESULTS

The King’s School and Carleton High School, both members of Pontefract Academies Trust, are celebrating GCSE success today. Two students from The King’s School achieved an incredible set of results comprising off all 9s. 9% of students across both schools achieved all 7-9 grades in all subjects (A-A*). 52% of students at Carleton High School and 59% of students at The King’s School achieved a grade 7-9 (A-A*) in at least one subject. Pontefract Academies Trust Phenomenal Fundraising Week

All eight schools who are part of Pontefract Academies Trust have had a busy few days packed full of fundraising activities to raise money for both The Prince of Wales Hospice based in Pontefract and Motor Neurone Disease (MNDA). Pontefract Food Bank Thank Pontefract Schools for their Support

Together the 3,900 pupils and over 300 staff members of Pontefract Academies Trust collected 315kg of food which has been donated to Pontefract Food Bank. The amount collected is enough to create 21 food packages for those in need within the local community. Pontefract Food Bank which is based at Central Methodist Church, Newgate, Pontefract are delighted to have the support of Pontefract Academies Trust as they’re urgently needing items such as tinned tuna, tinned meats, tinned potatoes, carrots and large size nappies to name just some of the products on their list. Pontefract Academies Trust and Halfpenny Lane is delighted to welcome Hayley McNeill as Headteacher of Halfpenny Lane Junior, Infant & Nursery School. Hayley brings with her 29 years of impressive educational experience as a teacher, 11 and a half of them as a Headteacher. Hayley is no stranger to Pontefract as she was born in the town and even attended Larks Hill Junior & Infant School as a child before emigrating to South Africa. Pontefract Caped Crusaders will be celebrating Red Nose Day

Wearing red, telling funny jokes and dressing up as their favourite superheroes are just some of the ways that the children at Pontefract Academies Trust schools plan to celebrate Red Nose Day this Friday 19th March. Carleton Park Junior school council had a committee meeting to decide what they would like to do and it was agreed that the whole school will enjoy a “Funny Friday Afternoon” and share as many jokes as they can throughout the day. Masked Readers celebrate World Book Day at Pontefract Academies Trust

Teachers, pupils and parents didn’t let lockdown stop them from celebrating this year’s World Book Day as they enjoyed an action packed agenda to enjoy their love of storytelling and reading. Harry Potters, Hermiones, Dennis the Menaces, Tom Gates and Fantastic Mr Foxes are just some of the characters that joined Pontefract Academies Trust online lessons to enjoy “The Masked Reader” event where staff disguised their faces and children and families had to guess who it is and what book they were reading. Pontefract Academies Trust Support Children’s Mental Health Week

Pontefract Academies Trust has been embracing Children’s Mental Health Week and encouraging all their students to find activities that help them feel good about themselves whether that be art, drama, exercise or music. The schools will be following the Place2Be’s theme of ‘Dress to Express’ this week and all students and staff will be taking part. Blue Peter Badges for two Pontefract Children

Two delighted siblings Daisy and Henry from Halfpenny Lane Junior, Infant and Nursery School, which is part of Pontefract Academies Trust, have been awarded with their very own Blue Peter Badges for their fantastic artwork. Pontefract Primary Schools Light up a Life for The Prince of Wales Hospice

Children from six schools in Pontefract have recorded themselves singing a Christmas song and message to be played as part of The Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract, Light up a Life event on Thursday 10th December at 7pm.
